I've had a good cry, now I'm going back to sticking my head in the sand and I'm gonna get me a replacement pair of rose tinted spectacles. It's the only way to cope.

  2. I can think of several different ways to cope. I involuntarily experienced several of them today. I started the day with hope, then I turned on the computer. I stood by my car in the cold rainy dark at 6:30 AM and sobbed wretchedly. Then I started to hope again. At work, cheerful distraction seemed the way to go. Until someone phoned and asked for me by name and began to cackle and recite some inane "Scary Kerry" poem. (I know who it was and he is a miserable lonely sad person not worth the rage I then threw myself into.) Back to work and a try for total distraction. Enter the mild mannered little republican, who once bemoaned the "liberal media" to me while looking at the newspaper clipping of my friend Joe's flag draped coffin, with the news..."Did you hear? Kerry just conceded to Bush." I was very offhand...oh, I hadn't heard.....and hustled him to tell his business and be on his way. Shut my office door and bawled uncontrollably.
I don't know if I'm going to become a radical or apathetic. Maybe an apathetic radical. Or radically apathetic. One thing I know, I will not let that bedwetting booger-eater beat me down.

I'm at an age now when the years start whizzing by and I'm thinking, okay it's four years. Just four years. We can sit this out. And pray that the democrats get their shit together to find the perfect candidate for 2008.
