I was listening to a segment of All Things Considered and George Lakoff said that Democrats don't get that people don't vote their self interests, they vote their identity and values. So even if they've lost their job, retirement, and home because of Bush, they will still vote for him again. Even if they have spent many nights praying that their son would come home safe from Iraq (and they know there is no good reason for him to be there) they would give Bush 4 more years. Why? Because, they too, want to be a cowboy?
I know people personally that this theory applies to. I'm just afraid to think too hard about how they identify with this lying bully.
